Malaysian Cricket Association with the collaboration of Petaling Perdana Education Department organized a two day cricket carnival at the Kinrara Oval on the 21 and 22 November 2016. The objective of the carnival involving 6 schools was aimed at introducing the fundamental of the game and creating cricket awareness amongst the school children.

The children numbering 250 were exposed to the basic skills and techniques of in areas of batting, bowling, fielding & wicket keeping. Together with a number of school teachers, MCA panel of coaches including a good number of national players conducted the training sessions. It was a real carnival atmosphere at the oval with the children enjoying two days of cricket activities.

On day two, the participating kids were group into teams and played a game of ‘mini cricket’ using ‘soft’ balls. The competitiveness amongst the teams was indeed very encouraging. At the end of the mini cricket competition all the participants were given certificate of attendance. MCA’s General Manager, Mr. Clarence Selvam presented the certificates. Also present during the closing ceremony was Encik Mat Tabohan who represented the Petaling Perdana Education Department. MCA believes that the organization of cricket carnivals of this nature with have a positive impact on the young children to take up the game and mature into a talented cricketers in the future.
