The MPL League match on 22nd and 23rd April 2017 saw Kuala Lumpur gaining victory in the penultimate over of the matches.

On Saturday, after winning the toss Kuala Lumpur elected to bat first to score a total of 240 runs for 6 wickets. The runs came from skipper Ahmad Faiz M. Noor 65, Virandeep Singh 61, opener Faris Almas Lee 43, Syed Aziz Mubarak 27 and Nawantha Ratnayaka 12 not out. For UKM, Amiruddin Azhar took 2 wickets for 50 runs.

In their runs chase, UKM lost their 1st wicket in the starting over with 2 runs on the board. Than a good partnership between Faiz M. Nasir 75 runs and Amdam Wiliyoh 51 rusn pushed their score to 188 off 40.4 overs.  Che Wan Razlan who came in at number 6 contributed a valuable 35 and the other was Nazril A. Rahman 24 runs. But it was not enough as the lower order could not hold on as they were out in 49 overs for 230 giving Kuala Lumpur victory by 10 runs. Nawantha Ratnayaka took 3 wickets for 39 off his 10 overs, while Pavandeep had 2 for 19 and Neville Liyanage took 2 for 44 runs.

In the 2nd encounter, UKM won the toss and decided to field first. Kuala Lumpur in their innings put up a total of 213 runs all out in 49.1 over. Syed Aziz Mubarak batted till the end to contribute 84 runs not out off 87 balls. The others who held to the total were Virandeep 49, Faris Almas Lee 35 and Faizal Abu Hassan 14 runs. Fitri Sham together with Fikri Makram Rosdi took 2 wickets each for 20 and 25 runs respectively.

UKM started off strongly to put up 50 runs off 9 overs when their 1st wicket fell. They were 111 for 2 off 27 overs and were looking good on reaching their target. They were 199 for 8 off 47.2 overs than they lost their 9th wicket with the score at 208. But they could only manage another 2 runs as they ran out of overs. For UKM, opener Fikri Makram Rosdi  top score with 98 not out. The others who contributed were Amdam Wiliyoh 29, Faiz M. Nasir together with Che Wan Razlan 15 runs and Norhamizan Hamidon 14. Pavandeep and Nawantha Ratnayaka took 2 wickets for 37 and 49 runs respectively.
