Announcing the much anticipated full schedule of Malaysia's first-ever professional franchise cricket league, Malaysia T20

The Malaysian Cricket Association, In partnership with the IPG group, announced today the much anticipated full schedule of Malaysia's first-ever professional franchise cricket league, Malaysia T20. The first season will be played in Kuala Lumpur, KL, in December 2023.  

The five-team tournament will be played between December 5th to December 23rd, 2023. Speaking on this historic occasion, the president of the Malaysian Cricket Association, Mr. Mohammed Iqbal Ali bin Kassim Ali, said, "This may turn out to be a turning point for the cricket of Malaysia. Our local talent will get an opportunity to play alongside some of the game's legends. Cricket fans of Malaysia will get to see high-voltage cricket action. All this can culminate in the growth and development of cricket in our country. We are delighted to have the experience and expertise of the IPG to handhold us in this venture."

Malaysia has a deep history and fanbase of cricket with the South Asian community and has already hosted some top-level cricket in the region. The homegrown talent of Malaysia will be drafted into the five teams, with some of the biggest international names in the world of cricket. In this draft system, there will be a special quota for the associate nation players as well.  

By acquiring the rights of the Malaysia T20, IPG group will be responsible for the league's management, operations, broadcast and marketing. With our understanding and ability to conduct successful leagues worldwide, we will ensure that cricket fans of Malaysia get to see some dazzling cricketing action. We are equally excited for this challenge to work alongside an associate nation and help them in their journey for excellence."
