MCA Official Statement Stronger Governance, Sharper Focus: MCA Leadership Charts New Course for Malaysian Cricket Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 5 May 2025 The MCA Executive Committee convened on 29th April 2025, during which priority portfolios were assigned to streamline operations and ensure focused execution in key areas of development and performance. These portfolios will be led by respective Board Members, with each Committee Chairman expected to appoint relevant committee members. Emphasising strategic governance and measurable outcomes, the leadership team is focused on ensuring Malaysia has a sustainable cricket ecosystem, and becomes a formidable force in the game, both domestically and internationally. Key Appointments and Strategic Focus • Deputy President Gordon Chung Pui Nan will head the Commercial, Events, and Government Relations portfolio, aiming to strengthen institutional partnerships, elevate the commercial value of Malaysian cricket, and drive impactful event execution in line with MCA’s long-term strategy. • Dato’ Ahmad Feisal Ahmad Tajuddin has been appointed to chair the High Performance Committee, which will play a critical role in preparing the national teams for key upcoming tournaments, including: o Men’s T20i World Cup Qualifiers in October in Oman o ACC Women’s Emerging Tournament o 33rd SEA Games Thailand in December (men’s and women’s T20i and T10) The immediate focus will be on optimal preparation for both the Men’s and Women’s Teams, with a performance-driven approach to squad selection, coaching, and competition readiness. • Dr. Faidz Abd Rahman will lead the Development Committee, which oversees the entire player pathway from the Entry-Level Programme (ELP) through to the Under-19 squad. This committee is crucial to sustaining Malaysian cricket by nurturing a consistent talent pipeline and integrating long-term athlete development principles, as well as engaging with schools, tertiary institutions, and the community. • The Media and Communications Portfolio, headed by Sathes Kumar, will be strengthened with strategic communication efforts aimed at increasing public awareness, stakeholder confidence, and fan engagement. With governance and outcomes as the cornerstone of its operations, MCA is committed to translating plans into tangible results. “The new leadership team is focused on building a sustainable and accountable framework for Malaysian cricket, with clear priorities and outcomes,” said Mahinda Vallipuram, President of the MCA. “We will work closely with the management team to develop policies and execute plans that will drive the growth of the sport in the country. In the coming weeks, we will form further committees to ensure that every aspect of our strategy is executed effectively. MCA is committed to not just growing the game, but doing so in a way that is accountable, inclusive, and outcome driven.”. These leadership appointments underscore MCA’s renewed commitment to capacity building, strategic execution, and ultimately raising the overall standards of cricket in Malaysia.
