ICC U19 WOMEN'S T20 WORLD CUP ASIA QUALIFIER 2022 - THOUGHTS FROM THE CAPTAINS

Six teams comprising of U19 girls from Nepal, UAE, Thailand, Bhutan, Qatar and host country Malaysia are set to sweat it out under the Malaysian sun at two grounds, namely Kinrara Oval and YSD- UKM Oval from 3rd June to 9th June 2022 as they vie for the one available spot at inaugural ICC U19 WOMEN’S T20 WORLD CUP 2023

Here’s what the team captains have to say.

Thailand’s Captain, Thipatcha Putthawong, “Some of our team members have been practising for two years now, and our mission is to take ourselves through to the world cup.”

Exuding confidence Kiran Kunwar of Nepal said “ It’s important for us to win, we have been practising hard and we hope for good results to qualify for the world cup”.

Malaysia’s Elsa Hunter is just as confident as she stated “ The team has come a long way, we have prepared well and we have the ability to go through to the world cup”.

Captain of team UAE, Theertha Satish reckons her team has a good chance at qualifying for the world cup.  “We will not focus on the other teams, but we will take it ball by ball and we will make sure we come out strong”

Qatar’s Saachi Dhadwal “ The team is here to gain experience. We are a fresh squad and this is a huge opportunity for us (to play in this qualifier). We will go one step at a time”.

Ngawang Choden, captain for Bhutan seemed rather modest, saying that her team “has not had much time to practise.” Nonetheless “ We will give it our very best out there”.

For many of the young players this is their debut, in competitive tournament and we  are assured to see the reign of enthusiasm and excitement on the ground as they bat and bowl giving their all.
