Job Title: National Head Coach – Malaysian National Men’s Cricket Team Reports To: Chief Executive Officer, Malaysian Cricket Association Application Deadline: 14th May 2025 Job Summary The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) is seeking an experienced and visionary National Head Coach to lead the Malaysian National Men’s Cricket Team through a crucial period of growth and international competition. The role focuses on delivering excellence at elite tournaments, cultivating a high-performance culture, and enhancing Malaysia’s global cricketing stature. This is a results-driven position. The appointed coach will be accountable for achieving key international outcomes in 2025 and establishing long-term structures to ensure sustained national team competitiveness. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 1. Winning Two (2) Gold Medals at the Southeast Asian Games 2025. 2. Qualifying for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2025. 3. Improving the Malaysian National Men’s Team ICC Ranking. 4. Building a Sustainable High-Performance System with clear player progression from Emerging and A Teams to the National Team. 5. Ensuring Competitive Performances in All Bilateral and Multilateral Series. 6. Developing a Cohesive Support Team Structure (coaches, analysts, physio, S&C, etc.) with unified strategies. 7. Introducing and Monitoring Individual Player Performance Plans (IPPPs) for all core and upcoming players. 8. Contributing to National Selection Decisions through performance data and transparent evaluation. Key Roles and Responsibilities 1. National Team Preparation & Match Strategy • Lead the planning, execution, and review of national team training and competition plans. • Ensure optimal physical, technical, and mental preparation for all key events and tours. • Lead in-game tactical decisions and provide post-match analysis and direction. 2. Talent Development & Succession Planning • Develop and track high-potential players within the A and Emerging teams. • Ensure smooth transition and continuity through talent pathways. • Promote a high-performance culture centered on professionalism, accountability, and discipline. 3. Systemic High-Performance Integration • Collaborate with MCA’s High-Performance Unit and Development Teams to align strategies across all levels. • Integrate use of analytics, data tracking, and video tools for continuous improvement. • Drive innovation and evidence-based practices in training and recovery. 4. Technical & Operational Support to MCA • Support talent identification through national tournaments and development camps. • Provide technical reports and strategic recommendations to the MCA on cricket operations. • Represent MCA and the national team in external engagements and media, as needed. Candidate Requirements • ICC Level 3 Coaching Certification or higher (Level 4 preferred). • 8 years of experience as Head Coach or Assistant Coach of a National Team (Full Member or Associate Member). • Proven record of delivering results at the international level (tournament wins, qualification milestones, or ranking improvement). • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and unify high-performance teams and support staff. • Proficiency in modern coaching tools, technology, and performance analytics. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across cultures.
