Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, 2nd September 2021 – HELP University was thrilled to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) via an online signing ceremony today. In line with its mission to help people succeed in life and to live a life of significance through education, and being an ardent advocate of continuous learning, the purpose of this Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) is to help develop Malaysian cricket as a world class sport and provide the players with an affordable, quality educational opportunity. The MoA Ceremony was attended by significant people from both organisations that included YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, Patron of MCA, En. Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali, President of MCA, Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, Vice Chancellor and President of HELP University, Professor Datuk Dr. Zakaria Ahmad, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, HELP University, Mr. Mahinda Vallipuram, International Cricket Council, Associate Member Director, Mr. William Glenwright, International Cricket Council, General Manager – Cricket Development, and Mr. Aminul Islam International Cricket Council, Development Manager Asia Region EXCO Members - Malaysian Cricket Association. In promoting this collaboration between HELP University and MCA, both parties agreed to a mutual and beneficial agreement whereby HELP University will support the progress of cricket excellence through the conferment of scholar awards to deserving cricket players both local and international. In return, MCA will source for International students to study at HELP University. Additionally, MCA will also assist in branding the University through their live stream matches around the world. Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan said, “Over the years, HELP students have excelled in many national, regional and international sports competition. Collaborating with the Malaysian Cricket Association is timely. Cricket is a game which helps character and leadership development and is a vital part of a balanced education. With MCA, HELP would support all efforts to help Malaysians to become world class cricketers. It is in our Mission: to help people succeed in life and to live a life of significance through education. This includes sport education like Cricket.” Through this initiative, HELP University aspires to be a centre of cricket excellence supporting the progress and advancement of the sport which is slowly developing to be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. Dr. Chan also said “This initiative strengthens and sustains our enviable history of being the university of choice for Malaysian and also international young and talented athletes to not only excel in their tertiary education, but to also achieve their sporting aspirations and ambitions. We also plan to help those who are retired from the sports to get their tertiary education or other skill sets.” President of MCA, Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali said, “Signing this Memorandum of Agreement with Help University signifies ‘Hope’. Being an ardent advocate of continuous learning, the Malaysian cricket fraternity recognizes the importance of education. Through providing educational opportunities, we see hope in being able to positively shape the trajectory of our players’ future which will augur well not only for them but, for their families and for the nation. As part of the MoA, MCA will serve as a marketing agent, given their established links with colleges and school networks in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, to secure talented and bright students each year for placement at HELP University to pursue their education in Foundation, Diploma and/or degree courses. HELP University shall continue to share its quality talent pool, innovative learning resources, educational technology, and global networking to provide a rich experience to help build Malaysian cricketers.
